SPEAKING PROGRAM Traci
Bisson talks with
Mary Lou Fuller about her book
and speaking program Mary Lou Fuller and Kay Amsden offer a very unique program to organizations, women's groups, colleges, corporations, senior centers and bookstores. Sisters by Heart, Partners in Aging has an upbeat message filled with energy, humor and sensitivity. The audience is invited to join Mary Lou and Kay on their personal journey through the changing tides of opinion regarding alternative lifestyles in the 1980s to the more acceptable lifestyles of the 21st century. This eventually led the couple to become advocates for equality in the struggle for legal rights. Audiences will share in the laughter and love of two women from diverse backgrounds who became partners in life and value the presence of each other everyday. These two unique and courageous women, now in their 70s, have received rave reviews for their candid approach to the controversial nature of their message about gay releationships. Mary Lou will read passages from her book that inspired this program. Sisters by Heart - Partners in Aging, will also be available for sale after the program. "I wanted to let you know that Mary Lou Fuller and Kay Amsden provided Plymouth State University with an AMAZING program on October 5th, 2004. I was moved by their open and honest dialogue with the audience and thoroughly enjoyed the positive message that was put forth. This interactive presentation was deeply moving with humor interspersed with sensitivity that fostered a safe and accepting environment for everybody in the room. The premise of the
program--and why I found it so remarkable--was that these
individuals were there to create a historical awareness of
the struggles that women endured while sharing a unique
perspective I would strongly recommend this program to any college, university and/or community agency that is looking to create awareness and acceptance. It will foster a sense of compassion and will move the audience to a place that they may not have been able to get to before. -Delilah Smith, Director of Women's Services and Gender Resources, Plymouth State University
-William Twibill, Concord, NH
